PROMOTE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY TO REESTABLISH TRUST IN GOVERNMENT
Democracies are useless without elected representatives who recognize that we make better decisions when we make them together. Unfortunately, too often in Chicago, citizens are informed of major public policy changes to education and public finance after-the-fact, instead of being included in the decision-making process. At the Ward level, neighbors wake up to new businesses that negatively impact transportation or safety in the area without having had any warning by their Aldermen. By increasing participation in the process and access to information, elected officials generate confidence in government.

- Solicit Community Input into Zoning and Other Ward Operations
- Standardize process for zoning change requests and post all on the Ward website for public input.
- Establish committees for zoning, TIF, menu money, parks, education, etc.
- Foster Two-Way Communication with Citizens
- Hold regular townhall meetings where citizens can ask questions on topics of their choosing.
- Solicit input through surveys and social media.
- Hold “mobile office hours” throughout the Ward, and in Spanish.
- Support Legislation that Increases Transparency, Accountably, and Oversight
- Require a public input period for city budgets and legislation with large financial implications.
- Empower the Inspectors General to initiate investigations and to issue subpoenas.
- Make public data more user-friendly.
