Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization Endorses Annisa Wanat
CHICAGO – The Independent Voters of Illinois Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO) endorsed Annisa Wanat for alderman in the 33rd Ward. “I am honored that an organization dedicated to social justice and good governance is supporting my candidacy,” said Wanat.
“I am running for alderman so I can be an independent voice for a new Chicago way in City Council. Our appointed alderman, and her predecessor, abdicated their responsibility of legislative oversight by voting with the mayor 100% of the time. After 40 years of single-family rule, the people of the 33rd are ready for a little independence,” said Wanat.
“IVI-IPO has been fighting for an open, honest government in Illinois for more than 70 years and for members to hear my platform and declare ‘We want Wanat’ is very meaningful to me,” said Wanat. “I have a decade of experience advising civic and political leaders on non-partisan voter education, campaign finance reform, and good governance legislation so IVI-IPO is an organization I have long admired. Their mission to better inform the public on the political process aligns well with one of the key pillars of my platform – to promote transparency and accountability in government so we can re-build public trust.”
