And I am ridiculously excited about having actual choices in local elections for the second year in a row!. Yes, I am a geek, but if you are getting this email, you already knew that...
Early voting starts February 29th, so I am writing to ask your support for two candidates, Aaron and Harish, who I am very excited about. Both of these gentlemen are running as independent Democrats, are ready to support "regular" people instead bowing to Machine wishes. Please join me in supporting Aaron and Harish with your vote, your time, and if possible, your checkbook - running against the Machine is expensive.
Aaron Goldstein (candidate for 33rd Ward Democratic Committeeman) is running on a platform of clean elections and fair judges. One of the reasons Aaron decided to run against against Mell is because Aaron served as an poll watcher during the local elections last year and witnessed the shenanigans that continue to haunt Chicago politics. As a lawyer in the Public Defender's office, ensuring that our civil rights are not violated is important to Aaron and being able to freely cast your vote, is key to that.
Harish Patel (candidate for State Representative, 40th district) is an independent thinker, local business owner, and volunteers his time helping promote youth civic engagement! Harish has been endorsed by Ald. Waguespack (32nd) and Ald. Pawar (47th), and just today, was endorsed by the Sun Times! His opponent has already started sending those comical, misleading mailings we have grown to expect from our friends in the 33rd Ward Machine, so you know Harish must be doing something right. Note: most of the 33rd ward is in the 40th district, but if you are unsure, you can check here.
Thank you again for your support of my campaign for alderman last year to bring fresh blood and an independent voice for a new Chicago way, and I hope you will support Aaron and Harish on March 15th as well.
Sincerely,
Annisa
